The biggest disadvantage to the wing-mounted engines in the Comet was the
complexity of the wing main spar/load box. Also, the engines take up a bunch of
room that could have been used by fuel.

As far as the T-tail goes, a 'conventional' empannage can also stall under
certain circumstances. On the other hand, the t-tail allows a slightly longer
moment arm from the center of gravity.
