CAPA denounces the 1st safety downgrade in a 15 year process of continuous improvement!

The CAPA policy statement has raised a major technical safety problem in
ATA's proposal to extend ETOPS diversion time. They point out the fact
that the proposal suggests a limit In Flight Shut Down (IFSD)  of 0.019
per 1000 hours, which is slightly bellow the actual performances of the
latest generation of ETOPS aircrafts. If we also consider the longer mean
diversion time over the North Pacific routes, this restriction is
therefore not sufficient to restore compliance to the safety requirements
of FAR 25.1309
