I believe the F-14D or Super Tomcat is capable of transonic flight
without afterburners. I thought the re-engined version, which produces
1/3 more pound of thrust, was to allow for carrier launch without
afterburner, thereby needing less fuel for the mission. (Reduced air to
air refueling.)

I believe the Concorde at cruise flies a constant isotherm.
