At the time that the passengers flew the route, TWA was using 747s.
Middle East routes and Honolulu were the last routes to switch from a 747
to a 767.  Shortly after changing the TLV route to a stopping flight,
they switched to the 763 and made it nonstop.  The 763 has plenty of
range to make this flight.  I think that the unscheduled stop was only
there with the 747.
