When the US Navy was considering a P-3 replacement program in the late
1980's, the proposals were:

Boeing: 757
McD: DC-9/MD-80
Lockheed: An updated P-3 eventually known as the P-7

The Lockheed proposal was chosen by the Navy, but the whole program was
later cancelled.
