There are very valid reason for not putting the CVR onto the
last-chance emergency battery bus, but how about on its own
deployable ram air turbine?

I've no idea how many watts a modern solid-state CVR draws, but it
can't be all that much. It's rather impractical to back up the FDR
in this way, as its inputs are fed from systems that are also going
to be off-line, but the CVR mikes could easily be powered from the
CVR in the tail.

Is the deployment of a RAT a notable drag on an airframe of
transport size?
