My mistake, I should have developed. By replacing I meant 'replacing
capacity-wise'. The 772 will replace the 763 on routes where they are
getting too small. Of course they won't lay of their 763s they are --
as you have pointed out -- much too young ;)

This is indeed a pretty safe bet

It was reported in Flight Intl (?) that RR is about to get the deal.
There is however no discussion in converting the existing GE powered
777 to RR. Way too expensive.
