Press release today announced Delta has ordered 21 Boeing 767-400ERX, in
addition to 10 767-300ER, 5 757-200 and 70 "next-generation" 737
(-600/-700/-800), for a total of 106 aircraft in a deal estimated at US$6.7
billion. The aircraft will be delivered between 1998 and 2006. There are
also an undisclosed number of options and "rolling options" which would
extend the delivery period through 2018.

The 737's will be powered by $800 million worth of CFM56-7 engines. The
order brings the 737-6/7/800 total to 605. First delivery scheduled for
August '98.

The press release notes that the 767-400ERX's are "expected to replace
older tri-engined airplanes" in markets that don't justify the 777-200.
First delivery of the 767-400ERX will be in 2000.
