It was indeed a model, and it was supposed (more or less) to represent a
Lockheed Model 10 Electra.  Not sure if Air France actually flew any
Electras (doubtful), but since Hollywood knew what an Electra looked
like in 1943, that's what they used.  The ground crew seen loading the
airplane in the background are all vertically challenged individuals
(the PC term for dwarves nowdays, if I catch the drift).
