I find it very surprising that the Trent 500 engines on the proposed A340- 500 and 600 (which develop around 50000lb thrust each) will be heavier than the Trent 700 engines or any of the other engines found on the A330 (which develop around 70000lb thrust). Unless of course you mean the two Trent 500 engines on each wing are together heavier than a single A330 class engine.
