I didn't say Boeing and McDonnell/Douglas aren't "flexible" on pricing,
only that the Airbus discount is a substantial one.  As I've said before,
it's the Bananas and Sex principle.  The bananas part is why the airlines
offer heavily discounted fares and the sex part refers to the fact that
most people in the airline/airframe business are hooked on it and will do
just about anything to stay in it, even if it means losing money.  On a
tiny scale, it's why little charter and commuter airlines can get away
with paying their pilots a pittance- they'll do anything to fly.
