In a BBC World Service broadcast this week on their transportation
feature called "On the Move" a person commenting on the difficulty
of finding the cause of the TWA 800 B747 explosion asserted that
American Flight Data Recorders were much less informative than
current European ones, and that had a better FDR been aboard
the aircraft the cause might now be known.
