There have been numerous mentions of HALON being used for engine fire
supression systems (as well as cargo hold fire suppression).

With the Montreal protocol on the elimination of CFCs, I know that there
are a few uses of CFCs that have been specially mentioned as acceptable
for the longer term. (As aerosol propellant for asthma medecine for
instance).

Has HALON received an official exemption from the elimination of CFCs
for the use on board aircraft, or will HALON also be replaced on board
aircraft ? If so, when ?

Are new aircraft such as the 340 or 777 still equipped with HALON or
have they begun to use replacements ?

Also, is there a list of relatively modern commercial jet aircraft that
have fire suppression systems in the cargo hold ?
