Hmmm. Last winter when I flew from SFO to Hong Kong by United (747-400) we
actually flew over Beijing, not Taipei. It was kind of a pleasant surprize. We
also flew over the infamous Kamchatka Peninsula. I still have the route map that
the captain drew me of our route. So was this a special case or is that an
alternate route that is commonly flown in these post cold war days?
