I'm sure someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was
because of the severity of its wake turbulence.  There was a crash of a
light plane a year or two ago on the approach to John Wayne/Orange County,
California, in which 757 wake turbulence was a prime suspect as to
proximate cause.
