Walnut and Pecan shells have been used though I've never personally
witnessed this. We do use plain water to clean compressor blades. This is
done by dry-motoring the engine and dumping water into the inlet using a
special tool. I don't know how often this is done or how effective this is
since it seems you would get the same effect by flying through rain.
