British Midland are replacing their DC 9s (-15 and -30) with Fokker 70
and 100 machines.  Having heard an F70, then a DC9-30 leave East
Midlands in succession, it's a good decision. The 737s are staying.
The 146/RJ family is even quieter. I don't care what it looks like
(actually, the high wing is better from the passenger's viewpoint).
I think that BM were the first to order the F70/100 mix in the UK.
