Yes, there's quite a bit of electron movement going on to turn those
lights on and off.

As an aside, the reading lights going off on engine start always makes for
a flurry of light switch pushing. The lights go off because of 'load
shedding' which is designed to unload the apu as it provides air to start
the engines.
