Pinhole leaks in hydraulic tubes are often blamed on chafing, inclusions
in the metal, thin spots in the tube wall, etc. What other causes have
been encountered or suspected? Do pinhole leaks occur more often in
aluminum, stainless steel or titanium tubes? Does the type of fluid (red
oil vs Skydrol) make any difference?

Are erosion or cavitation possible causes? What about electrostatic
discharges generated by the flow of the hydraulic fluid? Could they
generate tiny lightning strikes that would drill holes in the tube wall?
I would appreciate comments and suggestions.
